We The People Advocate - Ray Boyd

Platform

1.  HOW DID WE GET HERE?   Georgians, like the citizens of every other state, are in a crisis of historic proportions.  We are in this crisis because we sat on our hands and watched as our governments at every level became infested with Professional Politicians who put their best interests and their party's best interest above their constituents and their country.  These Professional Politicians have become intoxicated with their positions of power.  They could tax, borrow, and spend without limitations because there are no permanent rules for them in their ballgame.  They have come to believe they can simply change the rules, or can make up the rules, of the game as they go along.  How were they able to abuse their position of power so long and so relentlessly?  They could always count on We the people to whine and whimper for a few days, and then we proceed on with the minutia of our daily lives like the good sheep we have become.  We have sat on our hands while the freedoms so valiantly handed down to us have been slowly but steadily stripped from us.  Our founding fathers would not recognize the mess we have made of their gift to us. Our Professional Politician's' actions, and our inactions, have almost let our country slide into an abyss from which there is no return. Governors have stood idly by while the federal government has stripped away powers vested to the states by our Constitution.  Standing idly by has been our response since President Reagan left office.  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result.  I ask, "Who is more at fault, the Professional Politicians in elected office, or the ones who put them there and left them there?"  We the people can all put our hands down now.

2.  WHAT CAN WE DO?  Thankfully, there is a November 2, 2010, election. This will be the most important election in the history of this country.  If there are to be generations to follow this election, they will look back on this election as an electoral revolution of majestic proportions whereby we the people of America reasserted ourselves decisively and convincingly as the most powerful force for freedom on earth.  The cliche fits here - failure is not an option.  If the voters of this country do not recognize the clear and present danger that faces this nation then America as the land of the free will cease to exist in the form we inherited.  I encourage every person in America who is eligible to register to do so.  I encourage every registered voter to then vote.  If you have never voted before because you did not feel your vote could make a difference, please vote.  Your vote can make a difference - It must make a difference.

 3.  IS SURGERY REQUIRED?  Professional Politician's understand power.  We the people willingly gave it to them.  They have abused that power.  We now must take it back and keep it.  Our founding fathers unquestionably documented that power would reside with the people.  On November 2, 2010, we must impose term limits on every Professional Politician up for reelection, regardless of party affiliation, by voting them out of office.  Their abuse of their power has grown like an insidious cancer.  We must cut it out to save the patient.  Just as a surgeon would make sure no cancer cells were left, we have to also take some cells that may not appear to be cancerous just to be on the safe side.  We cannot take a chance on those Semi-Professional Politicians who claim they are not precancerous - they must be excised for the greater good.  We let new cells (public servants) grow without risk of contamination.  Periodic physicals (Term Limits) will be required for the new public servants.  All 435 members of the House of Representatives and 33 Senators must face the voters on November 2, 2010.  We bring them all home.  We the people can enforce term limits ourselves until we get term limits to legislatively or judicially apply.

4.  WHO WILL ANSWER THE CALL?  Patriots like me - individuals who come to the task with character, integrity, and honor.  I do not need ethics legislation to force me to be ethical.  Professional Politicians have to legislate against themselves, and they can't even do that with integrity.  An ethics meltdown happened in Georgia.  The General assembly and its leaders said it "will" be cleaned up.  They quietly let the issue slide to the end of the legislative session.  The result - business as usual. Georgia has the weakest ethics legislation of any of our neighbors for a reason.  They legislate what they want - a license to be wined, dined, and lavished with gifts instead of working for the public good.  Obviously, they do not run for office for the pay - it is the fringe benefits they want.  As Governor, I will transform Georgia into a model for the nation.  In order to make that task easier for me, the voters of this state have to clean out the General Assembly.  All 236 of them must face the voters on November 2, 2010.   Send them all packing.  Start with a new team who will know what happens when you fail to be a public servant.

5.  FOR WHAT PURPOSE?  The United States of America is the shining beacon for freedom hungry people around the world.  Their hopes and dreams to achieve freedom in their lands will fade quickly if we the people do not demonstrate to them that there is no substitute for freedom.  If we can't rise up to defend our freedoms and liberty, what chance do they have?  The message we must to send to our government on November 2, 2010, will reverberate around the world.  We will write own history on that day.  As Ronald Reagan said on more than one occasion - America's best days are still ahead of us....... (If we so choose).
